Work starts today! The Maison de Champagne Thiénot, headquartered in Taissy, is beginning the transformation of a building in downtown Reims, acquired some ten years ago on Rue du Marc, into a venue dedicated to wine tourism. Although Maison Thiénot is better known to Cavistes and CHR (Cafés, Hotels and Restaurants), it now wants to make itself more visible to the general public.
Ideally located between the Forum and Boulingrin districts, the 4,900 m2 building, which dates back to 1778 and was once used as a place for trading and sales between the Négoce (hence the street's name), will give way to a place open to Rémois and tourists alike, It will host both a space for accommodation - a few rooms reserved for the Brand's prestigious customers and distributors - and above all a reception area for tasting Thienot Champagnes, a space dedicated to the history of the building, which will take you on a tour of the 15th-century cellars that stretch for almost 1 km.
You'll also discover the history of Reims Cathedral in an animated scenography, as well as a garden of scents to awaken your 5 senses and a children's area.
The building boasts a large roof terrace, which will be transformed and fitted out to welcome as many people as possible, winter or summer, to enjoy the view of the cathedral, the Hôtel Le Vergeur or the Hôtel des Comtes de Champagne.
"The work will take almost two and a half years. Architect Loïc Thienot worked in collaboration with Agence Malherbe (who worked on the La Samaritaine project in Paris) to offer an original, exceptional and non-commercial experience," explains Garance Thienot, who is spearheading the project with her brother Stanislas.
